We joined 400+ delegates from 150+ cooperative banks in Surat to discuss the changing technology needs of India's UCB sector.
Access Computech participated in the 3rd West India Urban Cooperative Banking Summit 2026, held on 7 August at Hotel Le Méridien, Surat. The event brought together more than 400 delegates representing over 150 cooperative banks from across West India, along with banking leaders, technology providers, and other stakeholders from the sector.
The summit provided an opportunity to understand how urban cooperative banks are approaching technology adoption and the operational challenges they face as their banking infrastructure evolves.
Cooperative banks play an important role in India's financial ecosystem, particularly for local businesses, small traders, MSMEs, and communities that depend on accessible banking services.
As these institutions modernise their operations, technology adoption needs to address more than digital transformation alone. Banks need infrastructure that is secure, compliant, reliable in the field, and practical for the teams operating it every day.
This was a recurring theme in our conversations at the summit. For cooperative banks, modernising technology does not necessarily mean replacing the systems and relationships that already work. It means strengthening their infrastructure while maintaining the accessibility and trust that customers expect from their local banking institutions.
At the summit, Access Computech presented our range of banking-ready biometric authentication and payment solutions, with a focus on the needs of cooperative banks and their field operations.
One of the key propositions we presented was the ability to work as the single OEM partner for integrated banking hardware.
Banks managing multiple hardware vendors can face additional procurement, deployment, maintenance, and support requirements. Using a single technology partner across different applications can help simplify these processes and provide greater consistency across deployments.
Access Computech's portfolio covers hardware which supports:
The solutions are designed for banking environments where security and certification are essential, while also accounting for the practical requirements of field operators who may not have a technical background.
The conversations at the summit focused less on individual device specifications and more on how technology would perform in real banking environments.
Questions centred around areas such as system compatibility, field servicing, reliability, deployment, and whether a single vendor could support multiple hardware requirements.
These considerations are particularly important for cooperative banks operating with lean technology and operations teams. A device may meet its technical specifications, but its value ultimately depends on how reliably it performs once deployed across branches, service points, and field operations.
The discussions also highlighted the growing importance of integrating authentication and payment infrastructure rather than treating them as completely separate technology requirements.
For banks evaluating their technology stack, having certified hardware, reliable field support, and a consistent vendor relationship can simplify both deployment and ongoing operations.
The West India UCB Summit provided a valuable view of how cooperative banks are approaching technology adoption and infrastructure upgrades.
As banks continue to modernise, the focus is increasingly moving towards solutions that combine security, compliance, reliability, and ease of deployment. For us as technology providers, understanding these operational requirements is just as important as developing the hardware itself.
We thank Crest Infomedia, the organisers of the West India UCB Summit, for bringing together banking leaders and technology providers for focused discussions around the future of cooperative banking.
We also thank everyone who visited the Access Computech booth and shared their requirements and experiences with our team. We look forward to continuing these conversations and supporting cooperative banks as they strengthen their banking infrastructure.
